After months of hard work from teachers and pupils the nervous wait is over as enveloped full of GCSE results have arrived.

Students will no doubt be waking up to feelings of anxiety and trepidation this morning, eager to learn how they have performed.

Across north London, schools will be open at 8am as students flock to tear open brown-paper envelopes with their results inside.

As September looms it can be an uncertain time for some pupils, who after receiving their results are unsure of what to do next.

Andy Cole, principal at the College of North West London, said: “I know GCSE results day can often be an anxious time for many students but it can also be very exciting.

“There are so many options available and whether you’ve done well in your GCSEs or not, A-levels are not always the best path for everyone.”

The college has also offered their five top tips for students receiving their GCSE results today.

1. You do not have to stay at school until you are 18.

2. An apprenticeship is a great option, as you can earn whilst you learn.

3. If you haven’t done quite as well as you’ve hoped, don’t worry. You are not alone. There are still plenty of good options for you.

4. If you want to go university, you still can. A-Levels are not the only route into university. There are different paths available such as BTEC Subsidiary and Extended Diplomas

5. Get up-to-date, independent advice from qualified professional Career Advisors.
