Students became teachers for the day as a school hosted its first languages fair.
Pupils at Southgate school, in Sussex Way, taught their own language to other students and teachers throughout the day as the school tries to get more people to speak different languages.
There were many different language-learning experiences on offer, including Tagalog, French, Mandarin, Spanish, German, Polish, Turkish, Thai, Japanese, British Sign Language, Bulgarian, Swahili, Croatian, Greek, Russian, and Afrikaans.
Linden Cooke, head of languages, said: “It was a fantastic event that enthused and motivated our students, encouraging them to explore a range of languages and teaching techniques to share best practice with their peers and offer innovative ideas and fresh inspiration.
“Thank you to everyone involved and we look forward to next year’s event.”
