Yoga fans stretched out in the name of fundraising as they helped raise nearly £900 for two charities.

The Yogathon, held by North London Yoga Studio co-founder Jackie Lee, saw more than 50 yoga enthusiasts take part for Nightingale Cancer Support Centre, in Lancaster Road, and North London Hospice.

Attendees made a minimum donation of £10 and were then able to take part in up to five different Yoga classes, all taught by a variety of teachers who gave up their time for the event.

Mrs Lee who teaches weekly classes at the Nightingale Cancer support centre on a voluntary basis, said: “I get so much out of teaching Yoga to people in the local community that this is just my way of trying to give something back.

“It’s also a way of remembering loved ones who are sadly no longer with us.”

Lesa Barker, fundraising Manager at the centre, added: "The Nightingale receives no government funding and relies totally on the goodwill of local businesses and the community to help raise the much needed funds for the Nightingale to be able to provide their services to cancer patients, their family members and Carers free of charge.

“The Nightingale is a local charity and Jackie is one of the volunteers who so kindly gives up her time to teach yoga in the centre to cancer sufferers. Jackie has raised over £6,000 with her annual yogathons and it very well supported by her team of instructors and students.”
