A teenager who ran over an 11-year-old boy breaking his leg has pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Aaron Shomade, 19, of Galliard Road, in Edmonton pleaded guilty and was sentenced the same day to a total on two years and two months in a young offender institution.
Shomade was seen on February 4, driving a Ford focus in Arnos Grove roundabout, in Southgate, where he was driving in the wrong direction.
He was pursued by police but he failed as he drove on the wrong side of the road to overtake traffic and go through a red light before turning into Station Road, Southgate.
During his getaway, Shomade hit the 11-year-old in the leg with the car.
The 19-year-old then drove the car into the side of a bus in Palmers Road and he was arrest in Highview Gardens, Enfield, as he made a getaway by foot.
On February 5, Shomade was charged with no insurance, two counts of breaching an Anti-Social Behaviour Order issued on February 3, 2014, by Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court, dangerous driving, driving not in accordance with a licence and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Sergeant Craig Martin, from Enfield Borough's Gangs Unit, said: "I am pleased with this sentence. Shomade's dangerous driving has caused a young boy to be injured. I hope this is a stark reminder of the consequences of driving a vehicle dangerously and without the appropriate licence."
