An Edmonton nightclub has been closed down for three months after breaching its licence conditions 20 times.

Club La Face, in Fore Street, Edmonton, failed to make satisfactory idenity checks and search customers, gave its staff inadequate training in the use of CCTV.

The decision to close the venue was made at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court. The venue will remain closed for three months or until licensees can prove the issues have been resolved.

Superintendent Carl Robinson, of Enfield Police, said: "The police and council take licensing extremely seriously in Enfield. Whilst happy to offer help and advice to licensees, where there are clear breaches of licensing conditions we will always take robust action.

“This is the case with Club La Face who are now subject to a closure notice until they can demonstrate they are able to comply with the conditions of their licence."
