Potholes which have plagued a road leading to a park are to be filled in this week.

The road surface in Snakes Lane, which leads to Trent Park in Cockfosters has been a problem for drivers parking at the hockey club for several years.

The road is owned by the Malaysian Allianze University College of Medical Science , which bought the former Middlesex University campus but is facing financial problems.

Enfield Borough Council contracted out the work to fill the potholes in the road this week.

Councillor Jason Charalambous, who launched the ‘Save Trent Park’ campaign, is delighted the council is taking this step.

He said: “I am pleased that after several years of public demands for the well used but heavily pot-holed Snakes Lane to be repaired, Enfield Council has finally resolved to do so. Perhaps the scale of the public’s concern over the fate of the former Middlesex University campus in Trent Park – with 200 people per day signing the petition on change.org – has prompted the council to take the matter seriously.

“Whilst it appears work started in mid-February, only a fraction of the road has been repaired to-date, and I look forward to the council urgently repairing the rest of the road as the safety of the public should be their paramount priority.”
