A number of homes have been raided for illegal alcohol and tobacco.

Trading standard officers and revenue and customs raided 13 premises, removing 1,460 cigarettes and 900g of tobacco along with 12 bottles of counterfeit vodka.

Enfield Borough Council’s cabinet member for environment and community safety Councillor Chris Bond said: “Traders who sell illicit booze and don’t pay the duty on cigarettes and alcohol are ripping off the tax man and diverting money away from vital public services.

“Not only that but they are getting an unfair advantage over legitimate traders who pay their dues. It’s unfair, illegal and we won’t stand for it.”
