A housing group raised more than £1,000 for a charity in support of a girl's liver transplant.

Fairview New Homes, in Lancaster Road, Enfield showed its support for Poppy Chappell, the daughter of employee Laura Chappell, by raising £1,755 for the Alpha-1 UK Support Group.

Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency is an inherited genetic condition which can lead to lung and liver damage.

Stephen Brown, area construction manager at Fairview, said the workforce at Fairview's pulse development, in Collindale, had felt strongly about wanting to show their support for Poppy.

He said: “There’s a great team spirit at Pulse and everyone wanted to do their bit to support Danny, Poppy and the family.”

Mrs Chappell, 29, said: “Poppy was on the transplant waiting list from April and was listed as priority for the six weeks before she was matched with her donor, so we have been very lucky that Poppy has been given the gift of a donor.

“Poppy’s transplant was a split liver transplant, which meant the donor’s liver saved Poppy and another adult.

“We think it’s really important to raise awareness of Alpha-1, as it’s a condition that not many people have heard of.“
