A councillor will appear in court charged with assault today.
Cllr Haydar Ulus, who represents Haselbury ward on Enfield Borough Council, will appear at Wood Green Crown Court for this first time.
He is accused of an attack on February 20 this year, three months before he was elected.
Principal of investment firm Ulus group, the 35-year-old is alleged to have struck a man on three occasions following an argument.
Cllr Ulus appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on October 2, where the case was adjourned to be heard before a jury.
Cllr Ulus has been suspended from the Labour Party and is currently serving as an independent councillor.
