A man who is accused of beheading an elderly woman with a machete has been refused bail.
Nicholas Salvador, 25, who has been charged with the murder of Palmira Silva, 82, in Nightingale Road, in the afternoon of Thursday, September 4, has now been remanded in custody.
His case management hearing has been set for November 25, at the Old Bailey.
Salvador, who did not make an appearance in court today, has also been charged with assaulting a police officer.
Friends have paid tribute to Ms Silva, whose body was found in her garden, and hundreds have been laid outside Silva’s Cafe in memory of the 82-year-old.
