A 102-year-old’s positive outlook is the secret to her long life, her daughter has revealed.

Irene Osborne, of Crewes Hill, celebrated her 102nd birthday last week and her daughter Dorothy believes it is her positivity towards life that has made her last this long.

Having lived in Enfield since she was seven, Ms Osborne, has also written a book about her experiences in the borough and how it has changed over the years.

Her daughter Dorothy said: “She has rose tinted glasses and a phenomenal outlook on life. She has been hit with literally everything but she is still going and I am very proud.”

Mrs Osborne was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 90 but made a full recovery.

Speaking to the Enfield Independent, Dorothy also said that one of her mother’s greatest enjoyments is going to Age UK luncheon every Friday.

She said: “She goes every Friday and it is the highlight of her week. She is picked up first by the dial-a-ride and gets to speak to all the other people going to the lunch.

“I don’t know what she would do without that happening every week; they are really good to her down there. She plays bingo and has lots of friends there.”

Amongst other hobbies, Irene continues to bake cakes and has enjoyed watching the Commonwealth Games during the past week.
