Family heirlooms were stolen from a pensioner who let two bogus workmen into her home.

The 73-year-old victim let a man into her home in Bertram Road in Bush Hill Park on Thursday after he convinced her he was carrying out building work nearby and needed to investigate a leak.

When he was invited into her kitchen at approximately 6.30pm, another man joined him, but disappeared to check other rooms in the house.

When the men left the woman’s home, she realised £1,000 in cash had been stolen along with precious jewellery and a stash of Euros.

Although the value of the jewellery is not known, the victim had owned it for years and it had sentimental value.

The first suspect is described as white, approximately 6ft tall, between 25 and 32 years of age, and of a slim build.

He was wearing a black woollen hat, a thick dark woollen jumper, smart dark trousers and black shoes.

The second man was white, approximately 40 years old and wearing a dark hat and black clothing.
