Singers who took a music competition by storm are excited at the new opportunities opening at their feet.

Soul trio Ellamore, which includes Enfield Town vocalist Sophie Theodoulou, performed in front of 3,000 people at the 02 Arena yesterday during the finals of the Open Mic UK music competition.

Although the band missed out on the top spot, they came third in their category and were the last girlband standing in the competition entered by 10,000 people.

They did not leave empty handed, and won £500-worth of studio time for the amount of media coverage they accrued over their time in the competition.

Miss Theodoulou, who works in Emma Claire Hair and Beauty Spa in Enfield Town's Church Street, said the exposure sparked by the competition is creating such buzz around the band that they are excited about their future.

She said: “This competition has really pushed us and we got through all the rounds – it has really given us the confidence to move forward.

“The support and the fan base have gone up. We have really pushed ourselves and gone for it.”

The girls, who have been together for a year-and-a-half, are currently in talks to perform at festivals around the UK this summer, including Glastonbury, and a trip to America may even be on the cards.

She joined band members Fay Grant and Penny Phillips to perform songs yesterday Don’t Let Go by En Vogue and Run Away by Bruno Mars with their own twist.

She said the girls will learn from the “amazing” experience and continue to work as hard as they can to make it in the music industry.
