An animal-lover determined to raise cash for an animal centre has taken the matter into her own hands.

Kathleen Hewitt, who lives in Croft Road in Brimsdown, is planning to hold a bric-a-brac sale help the struggling Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service in Trent Country Park.

After booking her stall at a Holiday Inn in Kensington, she is calling for people in the borough to donate any items which could be sold for the last wildlife animal hospital in London.

The Enfield Independent launched a campaign in November to raise £5,000 for the centre which ran into financial difficulties when visitor numbers dropped due to last year’s cold weather.

To date, generous readers have donated £4,446 for the centre.

Ms Hewitt has already started buying bits and pieces she believes will sell at the stall, but plans to approach businesses in Enfield over the coming weeks to encourage people to donate.

The goods will be sold on July 28 between 11am and 4pm.

To donate, please call Ms Hewitt on 02088 054 978.
