Nerves are running high as a girl band dreaming of success are preparing to perform in front of thousands on Saturday.

Soul trio Ellamore made it through to the final of Open Mic UK at the 02 Arena after impressing judges with their unique sound during area and regional auditions last year.

Vocalist Sophie Theodoulou, who works in Emma Claire Hair and Beauty Spa in Enfield Town's Church Street, hopes the band’s hard work during rehearsals will pay off at the grand final.

Ms Theodoulou, who sings with friends Fay Grant and Penny Phillips, said: “We have been working really hard on it and playing around with lots of different songs.

“We have been shopping for our dresses and really going for our image because image is a strong thing.

“We are just really going all out there with our rehearsals so we are really training hard. We have done everything possible.”

Singing two songs, the girl group will compete against more than 60 people on Saturday, with £5,000 up for grabs for the winners as well as a chance to secure a record deal.

She said the members are “so, so excited” but at the same time very nervous about performing for so many people in Greenwich.

She can’t believe the band has been given the opportunity to sing at such a large venue.

The girls formed the band a year-and-a-half ago and often meet in Enfield Town to practise in the beauty salon.

Ms Theodoulou asked people to support the girls in their fight for success by texting OPEN73 to 86222 at £1 a text plus the normal rate.
