Friends of a teenager fighting for his life after a crash which killed his three best friends held a sponsored walk to raise money for his recovery.

Liam Bradshaw, 17, is in a coma after the A10 crash on November 9 which killed former Lea Valley High School students 17-year-old Jack Boyton, 17-year-old Harry Ferrand and 19-year-old Ashley Jones.

Seventy people dressed in their pyjamas yesterday and walked from the Faces Nightclub in Hoddesdon to the Elsinge Estate in Turkey Street, where the four boys lived.

Gemma Grainger, a friend of Liam’s sister Carla, was “amazed” at how much support the walkers received as they completed their nine-mile route.

The 25-year-old said: “We won’t know exactly how much money was given for a couple of weeks until people have collected the sponsorship but we had a license to collect on the street.

“We collected £820 and that’ was just from people stopping us in the street. It was amazing.”

Liam suffered multiple injuries during the crash, including brain injury. He is expected to need specialist care and treatment on his road to recovery.

His family are desperate to raise £20,000 to pay for his treatment – with all the cash being donated to charity if it is no longer needed.

To date, £2,830 has been raised through Liam’s Recovery Fundraiser page, which was set up by his sister.

She says she “can’t thank people enough” for the amount of support they have given to the family and said “every penny counts” in nursing her brother to recovery.

Friends are organising a ladies night on Thursday at 7.30pm at The Plough pub in Park Lane in Waltham Cross to help raise more money for the good cause.
