An international delegation will be coming to Enfield next week to learn more about its success in reducing teenage pregnancies.

Eight South Korean delegates will be given a presentation by officers from Enfield Borough Council to hear about the borough’s initiatives to reduce teenage pregnancy.

Councillor Ayfer Orhan, cabinet member for schools and children, said: “The Teenage Pregnancy Partnership is to be congratulated for its projects aimed at supporting young people in Enfield. Its success is clear.

“Teenage pregnancies in Enfield are falling and are now below the national average. This trend is a reversal of a few years ago, when Enfield was among the highest in London for teenage pregnancies.”

The council has carried out several measures to reduce the teenage pregnancy rate, such as improving promotional literature and using social media to communicate with young people.
