Play shown to Enfield students to encourage road safety
A play to encourage young people to drive responsibly is being shown to Year 12 students this week.
Safe Drive Stay Alive, at Millfield Theatre in Silver Street in Edmonton, follows the story of four friends on a night out who are involved in a car crash.
The show, paid for by Enfield Borough Council, is aimed at all Year 12 students in Enfield and will be backed up by lessons and booklets explaining how young people can reduce the risk of car accidents.
Cabinet member for environment, Councillor Chris Bond, said: "We are determined to do all we can to encourage young drivers to behave responsibly and safely on the roads because it benefits the whole of society.
"In the last five years sixty 17-21 year olds were killed or seriously injured on Enfield's roads and we are desperately keen to reduce that figure by using education and a variety of other measures to improve road safety in this borough."
