Young Parent's Project celebrates tenth anniversary in Palmers Green

The Mayor of Enfield visited a young parents’ support group on Thursday to celebrate its tenth anniversary.

Councillor Kate Anolue joined Enfield, Southgate MP David Burrowes, as well as staff and parents from The Young Parent's Project in Trinity at Bowes Children Centre in Palmerston Road.

The project was launched in response to high teenage pregnancy rates in Enfield and aims to support young parents aged between 12 to 18 years old.

The mayor, who was given a bouquet of flowers by Chloe Jolly, a daughter of one of the young parents, said: “My background is in midwifery, so this wonderful project is very close to my heart. 

“Being a young parent is not easy, so the support the project provides is so important.  They are helping ensure young parents can move forward with their lives and reach their full potential.”

The service, which is part of the Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust, includes a weekly Wednesday lunch club in Trinity at Bowes Children Centre in Palmerston Road.

Mr Burrowes said he was “pleased” to hear first hand what the project means to young parents in Enfield.

He said: “I’d like to congratulate the service on their achievements over the last ten years and support them in continuing their good work.”
