Popular apple day on track for annual event at Forty Hall Farm

Crowds enjoyed apple bobbing at Forty Hall Farm
An apple day at Forty Hall Farm was so popular organisers would like to make it an annual event.
More than 900 people visited the farm in Forty Hill on Sunday to take part in activities including apple bobbing, apple tasting, and a longest peel competition.
Farm manager Kate McGeevor said: “It was fantastic. We had a really good turnout. We had poor weather so we weren’t sure if anyone was going to come but 900 turned up.
“It is the first apple day; we have been setting up a community orchard which has been running for a year. We hope it will be an annual event.”
The apples used during the day were grown in the farm's community orchard. The remaining apples are expected to be sold as apple chutney.
The fruit-themed event, which ran between 10am and 4pm, marked national Apple Day, which celebrates locally grown apples and orchards.
Morris dancers entertained the crowds and visitors took part in wool spinning and a Tai Chi class.
The event was organised by Capel Manor College in Bullsmoor Lane in Bullsmoor, which runs the organic Forty Hall Farm.
