AN Enfield MP plans to suggest that in future anyone who threatens someone with a knife goes to jail.
Enfield North Conservative Nick de Bois wrote last night of his plans to put forward the amendment today, before MPs head back to the House of Commons after the summer break.
He wrote on Twitter: “Will table tomorrow an amendment that ensures mandatory custodial sentences apply if using a knife in threatening fashion regardless of age.”
Mr de Bois has been a leading proponent of new legislation ensuring under 18s caught carrying a knife with get a mandatory six-month jail term.
He has teamed up with the Enfield Independent's Don't Carry Don't Kill campaign to petition for the change in the law in the autumn Parliamentary session.
