Fruit-themed fun in Forty Hall to mark national Apple Day

A day celebrating apples will be held at Forty Hall today.

The fruity extravaganza, between 10am and 4pm, will include apple bobbing, apple tasting as well as a longest peel competition.

The unusual event in Forty Hill is to mark national Apple Day, which celebrates locally grown apples and orchards.

People can bring in their home-grown apples for identification by an apple expert.

The event has been organised by Capel Manor College in Bullsmoor Lane, which runs the organic Forty Hall Farm.

This sounds great - activities for children and no mention of prices so you would assume it is free. Wrong - children under 3 free, 4 - 16 admission is £2 and £3 for adults. Why dont Capel Manor, Forty Hall or The Independent publish prices in advance. It cost my family and I £8.10 to get there and home. If we had known it was going to cost an extra £11 (3 adults and 1 child) to get into the fun day we wouldnt have gone. I guess one organisation will blame another for not publishing the prices.
