Enfield’s Olympic champion Charlotte Dujardin will light the first firework in an Enfield Town display.

Double dressage gold medallist Dujardin is due to officially open the Enfield Town Firework Display in Town Park in Cecil Road on Saturday, November 3.

The annual display, which is due to kick off at 7.30pm, is now in its 38th year and organised by Enfield Scouts.

Mark Dowsett, leader of Enfield Scouts, said: “I am very proud of the annual fireworks display, it’s a fantastic family event with a safety record second to none.

"Having Charlotte attend in this Olympic year is the icing on the cake.”

More than 10,000 people attended last year.

Royal Mail paid tribute to the 27-year-old athlete, who was born in Enfield, by painting a postbox gold in Colman Parade in Southbury Road in August.
