Taskforce launched to help with changes to welfare benefits
10:48am Wednesday 17th October 2012 in News By Bruce Thain
A new taskforce has been launched to help people affected by upcoming changes to welfare benefit system.
From April next year the Government will be changing the benefit system which will affect more than 2,000 households, in Enfield.
The new taskforce, launched by Enfield Council, aims to help families affected by the changes which will see more than 6,000 children at risk of homelessness due to reductions in housing benefit.
The Enfield Welfare Reform Taskforce, with staff from Job Centre Plus and the Citizens Advice Bureau, will help claimants find employment, renegotiate their rent or move to cheaper property.
The benefit cap will see more than 700 families in the borough lose more than £100 a week in housing benefit.
