The police were called on Thursday night after a fly tipper dumped a huge pile of rubbish in the middle of a slip road.

A van drove down Bramley Road in Oakwood just after 9pm and dropped rolls of carpet, a toilet bin bags and sheets of wood in the street.

Paola Dellafiora, who has lived in the street for two years, was in bed when she heard a “loud smash” outside her house.

She realised what had happened and gathered with neighbours outside her property who alerted the police and Enfield Borough Council.

The 27-year-old said: “I can't believe it. It was such a dangerous thing to do.

“We were really concerned because we are on a slip road and it was dark and we were worried that cars driving up the road wouldn’t have seen it and would have driven straight into it.”

The rubbish was removed on Friday.
