Fake trainer salesman Oliver Ashtiani jailed

A salesman who made more than £59,000 by selling fake trainers has been jailed for nine months.

Oliver Ashtiani, of Main Avenue, in Bush Hill Park, pleaded guilty at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday.

The 31-year-old admitted selling more than 1,600 pairs of fake Nike trainers and 140 pairs of counterfeit Adidas trainers on online marketplace eBay between June 2008 and August 2012.

He was detained after Enfield Borough Council’s trading standards team raided his house on August 25, 2012.

Cabinet member for environment, Councillor Chris Bond, said: "This sentence sends out a strong message that we will not tolerate counterfeiting in any form and we'll pursue criminals with all the resources at our disposal to stop them fleecing and misleading residents."
