A fire damaged a warehouse in Ponders End last night.

The fire brigade was called at 5.20am to Ponders End Industrial Estate in Duck Lees Lane to tackle the blaze, which took hold of the ground floor.

Four fire engines from Enfield and Chingford were called, with the fire extinguished by 6.55am.

Firefighters used ladders to access the roof before gaining access to the ground floor to tackle the fire.

The disused warehouse, which used to be a shop fitters, was empty and no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
