Dodgy builder forced to pay compensation to victims

A convicted fraudster who carried out poor work on people’s homes has been forced to pay his victims compensation.

The payment comes after intervention from Enfield Council after hearing about the work carried out on two homes in Enfield by Felix Rooney.

Earlier this year he was ordered to pay one woman £5,200 and a young couple £2,500 for his poor work on their driveways.

Rooney had knocked on the door of the woman’s house offering to do her driveway and then overcharged for substandard work.

He then went across the road to the young couple to do the same job for a young family, hounding them for money after the work was done.

Enfield Council's Trading Standards Team prosecuted Rooney in 2011 and was sentenced to 17 months imprisonment blackmail and causing fear of violence.
