Husband and wife jailed for benefit fraud

A husband and wife were sent to prison for a £73,000 benefit fraud.

Julia Sadowska and her husband Adam Florianowicz, from Edmonton were both sentenced to 20 weeks imprisonment at Wood Green Crown Court on Thursday last week.

Sadowska claimed Housing and Council Tax Benefit whilst living at Charlton Road, Edmonton, but then sublet the property and lived with her husband Florianowicz in Cambourne Avenue, Edmonton.

Both failed to declare income from the other property and Florianowicz failed to notify Enfield Council his wife lived with him and the overpayment reached a total of £73,002.41.

The conviction comes after a combined operation by Enfield Council's Community Safety Unit and police.

Utterly incredible that they were given such lenient sentences - and even more that they were able to defraud such a lot of money.

I do hope that Enfield Council will be looking to recover all £73k from this cheating pair
