A man was jailed for five years for keeping loaded gun on a shelf in his living room.
Ben Ashley, 23, of All Saints Close, Edmonton, was sentenced yesterday at Wood Green Crown Court for possession of a prohibited firearm.
He was arrested on August 20 at his home where police found a firearm on a living room shelf, containing nine rounds of ammunition and a further two rounds were discovered in a black plastic bag.
On August 29 he pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm without a certificate and was sentenced to five years.
He was also sentenced to five years after pleading guilty to possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.
He also pleaded guilty to receiving stolen goods, a passport, and sentenced to six months with all sentences to run concurrently.
Detective Inspector Rob Murray said: "This significant sentence was the result of a successful operation by the Central Task Force and highlights our commitment to combating this type of serious criminality which blights communities."
