Fake water board officials trick pensioner in Bush Hill Park out of £650

Two men tricked their way into an elderly man’s home in Bush Hill Park last week before making off with £650.

The suspects posed as water board officials and claimed they needed to check the 82-year-old’s East Crescent home after there had been reports of a leak.

When they were invited inside the house on Wednesday, August 29 at 4.15pm, one of the men went straight upstairs to check the boiler.

The victim quickly became suspicious and the man ran back downstairs and fled through the front door.

The pensioner realised £650 in cash had been taken from his bedroom.

The suspects are described as of an Eastern European appearance. One man is approximately 30 years old, 5ft 7ins and of a thin build. He also had a dark brown moustache at the time of the burglary.

Both men were wearing black jackets with their hoods up.

Enfield Police are investigating and would like to speak to anyone with information.
