An amateur dramatics group caused a stir in Enfield Town on Saturday while promoting their newest musical.

The Finchley, Friern and Barnet Operatic Society (FFBOS) surprised shoppers by performing a song on a temporary stage in the Palace Gardens Exchange shopping centre.

The troupe kicked off their performance at midday and performed track Ain’t It Good from their musical Children of Eden to passers-by.

Chris Henry, who works for FFBOS, said: “With so many of the society's members from Enfield and with such a great following in the area, we thought it'd be a great idea to bring music to the community whilst promoting our next adventure on the stage.”

The musical, by Stephen Schwartz who also wrote musicals Wicked and Godspell, will run between September 4 and 8 at the Wyllyotts Theatre in Wyllyotts Place, Potters Bar.
