Man in hospital in critical condition following bridge fall
3:08pm Wednesday 8th August 2012 in News By Hermione Wright
A man who fell from a bridge onto a busy road has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
The man, who fell from the 14-foot Woodford Bridge in Chigwell Road, Waltham Forest, was treated by staff in an air ambulance, three paramedic cars as well as an ambulance before he was taken to Royal London Hospital.
People travelling to Edmonton via Angel Road may have noticed the incident as the A406 North Circular Road was closed westbound from the Charlie Brown roundabout while the emergency services attended.
An anonymous witness, who was driving to Enfield, saw the man – who is in his 50s, lying in the middle of the busy road.
He said approximately 20 people had gathered on Woodford Bridge, many of whom were crying. Six police cars arrived just as he drove past at 10.45am.
