Police have confirmed the body of a woman discovered in a lock-up garage in south west London is that of missing oil millionaire Carole Waugh.

Her body was found in a blue VW Golf at a lock-up garage at Lime Court in New Malden, at 7pm on Thursday. Police said she had been dead "for some time".

A post-mortem examination on Friday found that Ms Waugh, 50, of Harrowby Street, Marylebone, died from a stab wound.

Ms Waugh was last seen alive on April 16 and £240,000 has vanished from her bank account.

A man caught on CCTV in Ponders End was arrested in connection with the millionaire’s disappearance on Friday, July 27, after a card believed to belong to Ms Waugh was used at a cash machine.

A warrant to detain him further was granted at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Thursday, police said.

Ten people have been arrested over Miss Waugh's disappearance.
