Children got in the spirit of national Playday yesterday by enjoying activities put on in an Enfield park.

Enfield Town Park was filled with arts and crafts, a dance workshop, face painting sessions, a bouncy castle as well as a play area for under fives provided by Asquith Day Nurseries.

The free event, which ran between 12pm and 4pm, was organised by Enfield Council.

Thousands of children and their families got involved in hundreds of community events throughout the UK to mark Playday.

The annual campaign aims to highlight the importance of play in children’s lives.

Play development manager, Ricky Williams, said: “Playday has only one theme for parents, carers and teachers and that is - it is good for children to play – it is one of the best ways to learn, enjoy the company of the young and have some fun.”
