Southgate Police Station could be sold to fix budget deficit, admits Mayor Boris Johnson

Southgate Police Station could be sold to fill a £233m deficit in the police budget, admits the Mayor of London Boris Johnson.

The London Mayor revealed during an assembly meeting this week that the station is one of 12 in the city which could “in principle” be sold to fix the funding gap.

If the station is sold, three stations in the borough would remain open – Enfield Police Station, Edmonton Police Station and Winchmore Hill Police Station.

Four stations in Finchley, Sidcup, Kingsbury and East Dulwich, already have full approval for sale from the Mayor.

The mayor was made head of priorities and performance for the Metropolitan Police in Janurary this year.

Southgate police station is permanently closed and has been for years and years. I don't know the point of it to be honest.
