Jail for burglar who threatened husband and wife with kitchen knife

A burglar who threatened a husband and wife with a kitchen knife has been sent to jail for three years.

Jon Pankhurst, 39, of no fixed address, knocked on the door of the couple’s house in Brigadier Hill on May 16 before pushing his way inside.

He then produced a large kitchen knife and demanded cash from the pair, but the woman was able to run from the house into the garden and call 999.

Police officers were able to arrest Pankhurst, who was found guilty of burglary at Wood Green Crown Court and sentenced on Friday, July 6.
