Hundreds of people turned out for a sports-themed afternoon at an Enfield park on Saturday.

The Friends of Bush Hill Park put on free lessons a variety of sports including football, archery, croquet and table-tennis to mark the park’s Safer Parks Gold Award and try and get more teenagers to use the facilities.

Chair of the group, Maria Tolly, said the day was “a fantastic success” and praised Enfield Council for letting her organise the event.

She said: “It was absolutely wonderful. The amazing thing was how the various coaches did a really good job of getting so many people involved.

“The archery was so popular it went on for longer than expected, and there was a constant queue of people of all ages.”
