Mad Hatter's tea party in Enfield Town

Children will get the chance to be as mad as a hatter at an Alice in Wonderland-themed tea party in Enfield Town this afternoon.

The event, organised by Skewbald Theatre and Enfield Business and Retailers Association (EBRA), will include fancy dress, cake decorating and hat making on the green outside Enfield Town Library in Church Street between 12-5pm.

Children can enter their own designs into a Wonderland fancy dress competition at 3pm, with the event marking the forthcoming 150th anniversary of the publication of the Lewis Carroll classic.

EBRA manager Mark Rudling said: “We wanted to make the most of the sunny weather and put on something for children in the town and encourage people to shop locally.”
