Council targets businesses to help tackle youth unemployment

Enfield Council is on a mission to encourage business owners to take on young workers in the borough.
The council is inviting businesses to a breakfast on Thursday, July 5, to discuss the benefits of supporting youth employment and training in Enfield.
The session comes as 2,465 people aged 18 to 24 in the borough are receiving Job Seekers Allowance.
Enfield Council's cabinet member for business and regeneration, Councillor Del Goddard, said: "More than 2.5 million people are out of work at the moment and Enfield Council has a responsibility to do everything it can to help residents find jobs, work experience or training that will help them secure employment.
"This event will highlight to employers the benefits of recruiting young local talented people into apprenticeships and jobs within their organisations."
Information about grants for companies taking on apprentices will also be available during the advice session.
The event is delivered in partnership with the National Apprenticeship Service, local providers, Job centre plus, The North London Chambers of Commerce and Enfield Council.
