Doctors strike affects 12 GP practices
Strike action by doctors means 12 GP practices in Enfield are offering a reduced service.
Figures from NHS North Central London showed that 78 per cent of surgeries are running a normal service despite the industrial action by members of the British Medical Association.
The 12 that are running a reduced service may only be treating urgent cases, although all accident and emergency departments are continuing as normal.
The union’s members across the UK have been boycotting non-urgent care in a dispute over pensions.
In a statement NHS North Central London said: “To help doctors and nurses working in A&E care for the most seriously ill and injured patients quickly, we would urge Londoners not to call for an ambulance or go to A&E unless it is a real emergency.
“A&E and 999 services are for people with a life threatening or serious condition that needs immediate attention, such as a heart attack, a stroke, breathing problems, or a serious accident.”
