Former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp admits he is “sad” to leave the club after almost four years in his position.

A statement, released just after 3.30am today, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Spurs and am proud of my achievements.

“I have had a fantastic four years with the Club, at times the football has been breathtaking.

“I am sad to be leaving but wish to thank the players, staff and fans for their terrific support during my time there."

He is believed to be in talks with club chairman Daniel Levy to finalise a severance package.

It is thought the pair were unable to agree over an extension to his current deal.

Levy said the decision to remove Mr Redknapp from the club is not one the board has taken lightly.

He praised the former manager for his “excellent work” during his time at the club and thanked him for his achievements and contribution.
