ENFIELD air cadets have asked for almost £30,000 to buy a new 17-seater minibus.

The 85th Enfield and Southgate Squadron has bid for the money from Enfield Council to replace their existing, ageing minibus.

The bid, to the Enfield Residents Priority Fund for £29,160, for the bus, which will comply with new emission standards introduced this month, is due to be discussed by councillors on Tuesday, January 17.

If approved, the cadets will use the bus and the squadron, which is based in Winchmore Hill, has said it will have disabled access and be available to the wider community.

Other bids to the fund include money for police mountain bikes in Southgate Green and Bowes, £37,000 for placement play equipment at the Bowers Lane Playground in Highlands, and £2,500 for a deep clean of the Green Lanes shopping parade in Bowes.
