THE MAYOR of London will visit Enfield next month to launch a jobs fair after a similar event last year was a great success.
Boris Johnson will open the Enfield Jobs Fair, which aims to get the borough’s unemployed back into work, on February 10 at the Southbury Leisure Centre in Southbury Road.
In January last year, around 1,200 people turned out for a similar event where local firms including Rimex Metals and Johnson Matthey mixed with corporations like Barclays and Tesco to offer information about jobs.
Enfield North MP Nick de Bois, who organised the event, said he was “delighted” Mr Johnson would be opening the fair.
He added: “As an MP, I can’t create jobs but I can bring together companies looking for new staff and people looking for a job.
“This year we will once again have lots of jobs and training opportunities on offer for people in Enfield, so I hope we can raise awareness and get lots of people to attend.”
Details of the companies attending this year’s fair are yet to be announced, but people will not need to register this time, and opening hours have been extended to between 10am-3pm.
