A 16-year-old boy arrested in connection with the murder of Negus McClean has been released on bail.

The teen was taken in for questioning after the 15-year-old Edmonton County pupil was stabbed to death in Westminster Road, Edmonton, on Sunday evening.

He has been released on bail, to return to police for further questioning on Monday, April 18.

Two men, aged 18 and 20, and a 14-year-old boy remain in custody in connection with the fatal stabbing.

A post mortem found Negus, who was repeatedly stabbed in the chest and thigh, found he died from a stab wound to the heart.

Police have today reiterated an appeal for witnesses to the events which led up to the murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Clayman, who is leading the investigation, said officer believed around 13 black teenage boys on mountain bikes chased Negus along Bounces Road and into Westminster Road after he had tried to protect his younger brother.

He was found by paramedics in a pool of blood on the ground, and died shortly afterwards at the Royal London Hospital.
