A BOY who suffers from austism completed a sponsored walk this weekend to say thank-you to the Enfield school which has helped him over the past four years.
Sam Barrett is leaving Russet House School in September, and wanted to raise some money as a parting gesture to the staff and teachers.
The 11-year-old started at the Autumn Close school when he was seven, and over four years he has been encouraged to come out of his shell and develop his speech.
His mother Vicky said: “The staff at the school are so dedicated and have been excellent, really helping Sam to develop.
“Sam is a big boy and can't usually walk too far, but he was so excited on Sunday to do something to say thanks to the school welcoming him in and supporting him.”
Sam, his mother, and his two younger brothers Rocky and Jack set out from their home in Leighton Road and walked to the centre of Enfield Town.
So far they have raised £60 for the school, which has charitable status and relies on donations and financial support to operate.
