A MAN known to hang around in Enfield has been jailed for exposing himself on a train before assaulting a staff member.

Jack McCutcheon, 52, dropped his trousers in front of passengers on a train between Liverpool Street and Chingford, and when told to get off he turned violent.

McCutcheon, who is of no fixed address but known around Enfield, punched the 52-year-old staff member in the face and continued to hit and kick him while he lay prone on the ground.

Police were called and McCutcheon was arrested after the assault, on March 4, at Hackney Downs Station.

The staff member, also from Enfield, was left with cuts and bruised to his nose, and his glasses were broken in the attack.

McCutcheon was hauled before Hatfield Remand Court and jailed for eight weeks on Friday, August 13. He was also hit with a five-year Asbo preventing him from using a train or the Tube while drunk or being aggressive to others.

PC Craig Murray, from British Transport Police, said: “This was violent and unprovoked attack on a member of staff who had quite rightly removed McCutcheon from the train for exposing himself.

“Rail staff should be able to go about their work without fear of being attacked and we will continue to work with our industry colleagues to arrest violent offenders and bring them to book.”

Andy Sanders, head of safety for National Express East Anglia, labeled McCutcheon's behaviour “unacceptable” and urged anyone who sees him breaking his Asbo to call police.
