A HOSPICE which is raising funds to build a state of the art facility next year is hoping to attract new volunteers.

Staff from the North London Hospice would like prospective volunteers to pay them a visit between July 12 and 17 at the Dugdale Centre, London Road, Enfield.

The hospice, which last year looked after 500 terminally ill people in their homes, plans to build its first day care in Enfield on the site of a former children's clinic in Barrowell Green.

It was awarded £750,000 for the rebuild by the Department of Health in March but needs to raise £3 million to complete the project.

Judi Guy, Fundraising Manager said: “We have been in Enfield for years working in people’s homes, but now that we are going to have a physical presence we need to step up awareness of the hospice in the area.

"We are looking forward to meeting people and giving them information, so they can in turn raise awareness for us.’

Hospice chief executive Douglas Bennett will come to the centre to answer questions during the week and members of the fundraising team will be there from 10am to 4pm every day.
