A MAN who raped a woman in her Southgate home has been jailed for six years after showing "no remorse".

Mohammed Mohammed, 19, of Pembury Road, Tottenham, was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court last Wednesday.

He had previously been found guilty of rape on February 25 following a trial lasting a week.

The jury heard that early on the morning of June 8, 2009, Mohammed forced his way into the home of a woman he knew in Southgate.

Despite her requests for him to leave, he let himself into her bedroom where he stripped naked and got into the bed.

The victim went into the room to try and convince him to leave but was subjected to a prolonged and violent assault.

After the attack Mohammed, who had spent all day smoking cannabis, put on a pink dressing gown, sat down with her mother and sister and “insisted the group talk about religion”.

Judge Simon Carr said: “One of the most worrying facts of this case has been your inability to take on board what you did that day.

“Exactly why you are unable to take it on board is unclear. The psychiatric reports say you had some form of manic episode triggered by chronic cannabis misuse.

“You do not require any treatment above and beyond that provided in the prison system."

Following the attack the victim managed to escape the room and rang 999.

Mohammed was arrested at the scene by officers who responded to the victim's call for help.

He was taken to Colindale police station and charged with four counts of rape.

DC Martin Brown said: "At no point during our investigation did Mohammed show any remorse for the trauma he has put his victim through.

"He even wrote to the victim from prison during the trial, causing her even further anguish.

"I am grateful the court was able to appreciate this for the crime it was. It was clear the facts of this case visibly upset members of the jury.

"I hope the unanimous belief in the victim's account of events will help her come to terms with what has happened and allow her to move forward in her life."
