NEARLY 500 people have signed up to a Facebook group condemning the savage killing of a dog in Winchmore Hill.
The site, called "Can you help identify the Winchmore Hill dog killer?", is part of a growing community campaign to find the man responsible for the vicious beating.
The attack is believed to have taken place on January 17 when a 21-year-old woman saw a man pulling a dog by its lead down Queen's Avenue at around 6.10pm.
The male black and white spaniel crossbreed was later found dead and battered behind Capitol House, an office block off Green Lanes.
Writing on the website, Nicky Visser said: "I am totally sickened by the fact this has happened and no one has come to the rescue of this poor dog.
"Someone knows something and I just pray that they will come forward.
"Please come forward if you know anything, it's making my blood boil."
Samantha Wilson wrote: "I can't even begin to imagine how that poor dog must have felt.
"What also makes me angry is the people who saw this dog being dragged down the road, surely they know that's not normal behaviour, so why wouldn't they call the police or RSPCA or do something about it themselves?
"It is absolutely unbelivable. That dog was let down by people who saw and heard this terrible thing happen."
Amy Scotney added: "I am absolutely outraged by what this man has done to this poor defenceless dog.
"Somebody must know something."
A meeting is being held outside Capitol House at 10.30am on Saturday, February 13, to help "jog people's memories" about the attack.
A group of residents from the area have also put together a reward fund to help find the killer, saying they felt "let down" by the police and RSPCA.
Enfield police passed the matter to the RSPCA, they said, because the caller who reported the attack could not provide any contact details for the witness.
Klare Kennett, RSPCA regional media manager, confirmed the RSPCA was looking into the matter.
She said: "It's great the residents have done this and are so outraged by what happened.
"Hopefully their efforts will help our investigations and someone will come forward."
Anyone with information about this attack is asked to call the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
